The Word: TeenageAccording to John Savage's insightful and eloquent prehistory of that period between childhood and adulthood, teenage didn't come into popular usage until 1944, and it did so as a marketing tool (like t'ween). This doesn't mean that teenagehood didn't exist before mid-century. It means that I haven't written shit in a long time. yikes!
